MOBIRIX has broken away from in-app
purchase and drastically increased downloads by 500% using Google AdMob, an
advertising platform.
Jonathan Alferness, the head of global
mobile advertising products at Google recently visited Korea, and has
introduced two Korean game-developing companies that have succeeded in
utilizing the app promotion solution provided by Google. One is Four Thirty-Three
which have succeeded in ‘blades’ and ‘heroes’ one after another to become the
hottest company, and the other is MOBIRIX, which is a mostly unfamiliar game
company.
MOBIRIX is a company that mainly
represents the popular arcade games such as Tengai and 1945 series. According
to Google's announcement, it has increased downloads by 500% using of in-house
ads that advertise other apps within its app.
“MOBIRIX was founded in 2004, and currently
over 60 games are provided as a global one-build. Currently, there are at least
one person is accessing every day in 220-230 countries, and the number of
downloads recorded by MOBIRIX’s games in the last month of February on Google
Play is over 10 million.”
According
to MOBIRIX’s director Hyun-Kwan, Roh, it has been focusing on global services
about two years ago. As competition in the domestic mobile gaming market is
intensified due to the Kakao. MOBIRIX is not large in scale, and there is
limited to compete in overheated domestic market. Thus, MOBIRIX also joined the
Kakao and released a game called ‘Pocket Ball Mania for kakao’, but the
situation of MOBIRIX, it was more convinced that relying on Kakao to compete
with large publishers would be nonsense.
In
the end, MOBIRIX give up Kakao and choose Google’s AdMob, which others have not
been interested in yet. AdMob is a mobile advertising platform that distributes
revenue depends on advertisement impression. Not like other company that
emphasizing in-app purchase, MOBIRIX able to increased in revenue by securing
broad users.
Obviously,
at first, as the experience was not enough to releasing the game as a global
one-build to the world and let users install the different games were extremely
difficult.However, keep constant on analysis and practice for two
years, the users have gradually increased, and the total number of game
downloads from 150,000 to 200,000 per day at the end of 2014 has now exceeded
450,000 per day.In fact, MOBIRIX's flagship game, ‘Maze King’, has
recorded 17 million downloads so far.
Director
Roh said that company's policy was not the pursuing money, let money chasing
our tales. now the company was able to overcome the initial difficult times and
create stable profits. He said he would have repeated the ruin, and that the
company may have already disappeared as a result.
